Features

  • Antioxidant-rich

One cup of Matcha provides more antioxidants than 10 cups of normal, brewed green tea. Interestingly, Matcha also contains more than 5x the antioxidants than any other food, including Goji Berries, Pomegranate & Blueberries!

  • Burns Calories

Studies have shown that Matcha can enhance your resting metabolic rate by up to 40% whilst also helping the body to burn fat. Also, Matcha Tea is almost calorie free making it a great addition to your dietary plans.

  • No Coffee Jitters

Matcha Tea contains the amino acid L-Theanine which facilitates the slow release of caffeine throughout the day. Rather than the jittery caffeine boost you get from coffee, the caffeine in Matcha is released into the body over 3-4 hours keeping you alert, calm and in control.

  • 100% Organic

Our Matcha is 100% organic. There are no additives, preservatives or other teas mixed in with our Matcha. As you can tell, we take our tea very seriously!

The Story

In recent years, green tea has seen a huge increase in popularity, due in no small part to its health benefits. At WeLoveMatcha, we're bringing you the best type of green tea - Matcha! One of the reasons for the heightened health benefits of Matcha over traditional green tea is as a result of the fact that with Matcha, you actually drink the leaf itself - not just the brewed water. The leaves are ground into a fine powder by a special stone-grinding process.

WeLoveMatcha's Matcha Tea is straight from Kyoto, Japan. We only use the finest leaves which are then stone ground to ensure that they maintain their quality.

At this moment in time, WeLoveMatcha only supplies pure, ceremonial-grade Matcha. If you're looking for Matcha to use only for cooking, please let us know and we'll point you in the right direction. Our Matcha is for those who want to reap the full benefits of this Japanese tea by using it mainly for drinking.

Keeping up with tradition, we recommend using a Matcha whisk, scoop and bowl to prepare our Matcha.

FAQ

What is Matcha?

Discovered by Japanese monks, Matcha is stone-grounded and powdered tea leaves that have been picked from the Camellia Sinensis tea plant when the leaves contain the highest amount of nutrients.

How is Matcha made?

Once picked, Matcha leaves are steamed, stemmed, and de-vined before being stone-ground into very fine powder. The powder is then stored away from all light and oxygen to give it its green colour and antioxidant properties.

How do I prepare Matcha tea?

Scoop 1-2 matcha scoops into a bowl. Add 30ml of 80 degree Celsius water. Whisk in zig zag motion until frothy and enjoy. Because WeLoveMatcha powder is ceremonial grade, this means it is of the highest quality, making the powder naturally sweet. It is therefore not necessary to add any milk or additives, although you may prefer to do so.

Are there any health benefits?

There are many health benefits - the list goes on and on. Matcha is high in antioxidants, detoxes the body, helps to burn calories and boosts your metabolism! Check out our blog for more details on the many health benefits of Matcha!

Do you sell Matcha tea bags?

Matcha that is sold in tea bags is usually relatively low quality and is blended with other teas, usually Sencha. We are advocates of high quality Matcha at an affordable price and so only provide Matcha in ground powder form.

How long can I store Matcha for?

If you follow our instructions, keeping Matcha in the tea caddy that we offer and in the fridge, you will be able to preserve your Matcha for up to 2 months.
